About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define, analyze, and resolve customer escalations accurately and promptly
Investigate customer-reported issues and perform root-cause analysis
Navigate large and unfamiliar Java codebases
Develop production-ready code fixes from defect confirmation through AI-assisted patch development, automated test generation, code review, and release validation
Provide status updates to customers, coworkers, and management
Document complex issue resolutions for customer and internal reference
Contribute to product enhancement development after gaining product experience
Assist team members with complex issues
Use AI tools to assess defect blast radius and identify safe fix paths
Contribute to, review, and maintain knowledge-base content and product documentation
Participate in periodic after-hours/weekend Pager rotation
Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need

2–5 years of software engineering experience
Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Operating system experience with Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows
Experience with Java, J2EE, Servlets, MDB, HTML, JNDI, Jax-RS, JMS, JUnit, XML, and JSON
Experience with AS2/4, HTTP(S), FTP(S), SFTP, REST/APIs, RNIF, and EBICS protocols
Cloud experience with one or more of AWS, Azure, Google, IBM, or Red Hat
CI/CD experience with Maven, Docker, IBM Cloud, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and GitHub
Database experience with Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, and/or MySQL
Ability to read and code in an object-oriented language, preferably Java
Experience with JDBC, JDK, and JVM stack traces
Strong understanding and experience executing static and dynamic scans and fixing vulnerabilities
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor within enterprise SDLC and security guardrails
Hands-on experience with spec-driven or agent-assisted development workflows
Ability to translate problem statements into specifications, guide AI tools, and validate outputs through tests and reviews
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues simultaneously
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to contribute in a team environment
