About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze customer contracts to determine proper revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606
- Support period-end close activities
- Handle ad-hoc projects
- Mentor and review the work of staff revenue accountants
- Collaborate with Billing and other internal stakeholders to maintain compliance with accounting standards
- Review and process customer contracts for ASC 606 revenue implications
- Answer checklist questions driving revenue recognition
- Perform revenue recognition analyses, including multi-element revenue allocations
- Create revenue schedules to post revenue to the ledger
- Review revenue accountants’ checklist questions, revenue schedules, and revenue recognition analyses
- Review contract costs workbooks, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Prepare and review ad-hoc analyses
- Undertake process improvement projects
- Collaborate on revenue posting activities, including exception reports and revenue schedules
- Prepare journal entries and supporting workbooks
- Review monthly budget-to-actual variances
- Prepare or review ledger account reconciliations
- Prepare and assist with assigned close processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4 or more years of applicable experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- CPA certification required
- Excel proficiency
- Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral)
- Ability to collaborate within a team dynamic, sharing responsibilities to accomplish a team goal
- Ability to improve or streamline processes
- Revenue recognition experience, particularly related to SaaS
- Working knowledge of ASC 606
- Experience reviewing customer contracts
- Familiarity with Workday
- Remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time
- Be adaptive and change priorities quickly; meet deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Ability to operate computer programs and software
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and in electronic formats
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to work in a collaborative business environment in close quarters with peers and varying interruptions
