About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of large or ambiguous initiatives spanning multiple systems or teams
  • Leverage AI-assisted coding tools and autonomous development workflows where applicable
  • Own project execution from design through rollout, integrating agentic workflows and automated guardrails
  • Provide technical guidance through code reviews, architectural decisions, and AI coding-agent best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers in technical, design, problem-solving, and agentic-tool capabilities
  • Participate in strategic planning and inform technical direction, including adoption of agentic SDLC practices
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using agent-driven debugging and novel solutions
  • Shape project- and team-level technical decisions and long-term architecture
  • Lead improvements in reliability, scalability, observability, and incident response
  • Improve engineering patterns, tooling, documentation, and processes across multiple teams
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, product managers, and leadership
  • Manage ambiguity by bringing clarity, structure, and direction in rapidly evolving situations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of experience delivering complex software systems and solving technical challenges
  • Strong backend experience architecting and building robust services using Python, Flask, and/or FastAPI
  • Experience writing comprehensive backend tests, such as Pytest, and ensuring strong test coverage
  • Familiarity or decent frontend experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript is a plus
  • Ability to break down complex projects into components or milestones that other engineers can easily pick up
  • Motivation to improve engineering quality, reliability, and service performance
  • Demonstrated collaboration with co-workers on cross-functional teams
  • Experience building consumer-facing applications and internal tools
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of hire and must not require employer sponsorship for a work visa, current or future
  • Successful candidates must undergo a background check
