About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary contact on the 1001 team for individuals discerning a call to start a new worshiping community or in its early stages
  • Lead and execute 1001 Leadership Assessments in partnership with mid councils, seminaries, and other partners
  • Educate mid councils on qualities and competencies needed for new worshiping community leadership
  • Partner and consult with mid councils to develop leadership qualities and competencies
  • Create vocational discernment opportunities and introductions to 1001 new worshiping communities
  • Facilitate consultation and coaching with prospective new worshiping community leaders
  • Develop and update resources for starting and sustaining new worshiping communities
  • Interpret the vision of 1001 New Worshiping Communities and Presbyterian Life & Witness to mid councils, congregations, and constituency groups
  • Participate regularly in evaluation of the 1001 New Worshiping Communities program
  • Prepare and review reports and records, modifying methods as needed to achieve objectives
  • Collaborate internally and externally to educate and communicate programmatic information

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; master’s degree
  • 4–7 years of increasingly responsible related programmatic experience
  • 4 or more years of experience leading a new worshiping community, or providing significant support of one
  • Experience with 1001’s Discerning Missional Leadership assessment
  • Past experience as a contracted assessor strongly preferred
  • Certification or familiarity with inventories used in 1001 assessment programs (Clifton Strengths, TKI, etc.)
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel, and other appropriate software
  • Familiarity with Canva, Jotform, and Basecamp or similar project management software is helpful
  • Understanding and knowledge of PC(USA) and its organizational structure
  • Ability to speak one or more languages other than English is very helpful
  • Familiarity with the history and programs of the 1001 New Worshiping Communities office
  • Familiarity with current thought leadership in church planting and leadership development
  • Ability to communicate via telephone, Zoom, and other computer technologies
  • Ability to read and understand written materials
  • Ability to communicate in a manner suitable to a church office environment
  • Ability to regularly travel overnight and out of town, typically monthly
