About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the stability, security, reliability, and scalability of corporate and franchise-facing technology systems
  • Design and oversee corporate IT infrastructure across network, cloud, endpoint, and telecommunications environments
  • Lead capacity planning, lifecycle management, and hardware/software refresh planning
  • Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery planning, documentation, and annual testing
  • Manage technology readiness for new school openings across departments
  • Own the corporate cybersecurity program, including SOC monitoring, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and security awareness training
  • Maintain the IT risk register and ensure technology controls meet SOC 2, PCI, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead incident response coordination and post-incident reviews
  • Chair weekly CAB meetings, maintain the change log, enforce change windows, and oversee risk assessment and rollback planning
  • Improve change management practices and educate stakeholders
  • Serve as escalation point for emergency changes and change-owner conflicts
  • Report technology operations performance and risk to executive leadership in plain language
  • Represent technology operations in cross-functional initiatives, platform migrations, school launches, and process improvement workstreams
  • Support franchise owner communications regarding outages, changes, and new capabilities
  • Lead the IT Help Desk and track KPIs
  • Drive root cause analysis for recurring incidents
  • Own the IT asset lifecycle from procurement through disposition, including warranty management and ITAD
  • Develop and manage the technology operations budget and report variances to the CIO
  • Lead, develop, and mentor technology operations staff
  • Manage vendor relationships, conduct quarterly business reviews, and maintain vendor scorecards
  • Own IT policy and procedure documentation
  • Maintain audit-ready evidence and coordinate with external auditors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience
  • At least 3 years in a senior operations management role
  • Demonstrated experience owning infrastructure, security, help desk, and vendor management simultaneously
  • Hands-on experience leading a CAB or formal change management process
  • Ability to communicate technology risk and performance to non-technical business stakeholders
  • Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Experience managing and developing small-to-midsize IT teams
  • Experience with IT budget development and management
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment with competing priorities
  • Experience in a franchise, multi-unit retail, or distributed enterprise environment (50+ locations strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with childcare, education, or consumer services technology ecosystems
  • ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent practical ITSM experience
  • Experience with managed SOC providers, EDR platforms, and identity management tools such as Entra ID / Azure AD
  • Exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, or other modern data infrastructure environments
  • Experience supporting platform migrations or technology transitions at scale
  • PMP, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or similar certification is a plus
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Willing and able to commute to the company office
