About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Schedule outpatient medical procedures for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot
  • Request pre-operative clearances from PCP offices
  • Submit booking/orders to outpatient surgical centers
  • Provide patients with surgical paperwork, including consents, drop instructions, pre/post-operative instructions, and financial responsibility information
  • Provide accurate information regarding test preparations, arrival times, and directions
  • Respond to patient questions and provide pre-operative education while maintaining confidentiality
  • Deliver a high level of patient service and experience
  • Maintain surgical schedules and achieve company KPIs
  • Notify patients of scheduled appointments
  • Verify insurance and obtain required authorizations
  • Prepare physician paperwork for surgery
  • Send booking sheets, insurance information, prior authorizations, and clearances to surgical facilities
  • Answer telephone inquiries from patients and primary care physicians
  • Support surgeons in building and maintaining referral relationships
  • Coordinate office visits and lunches for local offices
  • Track referral patterns and generate reports
  • Follow up with prospective patients and referring providers
  • Collaborate with growth and operations teams on local campaigns
  • Liaise with local healthcare networks
  • Monitor patient inquiries, cancellations, and referral conversions for actionable insights

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-4 Years full-time surgery scheduling experience
  • Willing and able to follow directions and adhere to priorities
  • Must have a can-do, will-do attitude
  • Superior knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement schemes
  • Must have exceptional organizational and computer skills
  • Conversational knowledge of medical terminology, acronyms, techniques
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Preferred: 3 years eClinical Works RCM experience in patient account and denial management
