Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a key point of contact for customer inquiries, providing professional guidance, product information, and service recommendations
  • Support the full sales process from initial outreach and product discussions through quoting, order coordination, and post-sale follow-up
  • Enter and maintain customer records, product information, and sales documentation
  • Communicate customer requirements, pricing, order details, timelines, and expectations to internal teams
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Address customer concerns and order challenges, escalating complex matters when appropriate
  • Understand customer equipment and technical requirements and communicate solutions to technical and non-technical customers
  • Maintain accurate information in CRM and sales systems
  • Track customer requests, pricing updates, order details, and sales activities
  • Prepare sales reports, dashboards, pipeline updates, customer summaries, and commercial insights
  • Coordinate sales meetings, customer meetings, product presentations, schedules, and follow-up activities
  • Support sales planning and strategic initiatives contributing to revenue growth and customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Service, Marketing, leadership, engineering, and technical teams
  • Coordinate resources, timelines, and deliverables across concurrent sales opportunities
  • Identify and resolve workflow inefficiencies affecting customer experience or the sales process
  • Improve sales processes, communication workflows, and customer engagement using CRM, quoting, communication, and other technology
  • Support system enhancements, integrations, workflow improvements, standardized sales practices, templates, and documentation
  • Maintain sales records in accordance with company policies and support audits and compliance activities
  • Travel throughout the assigned multi-state territory to visit customers, attend meetings, industry events, and conduct other business activities
  • Contribute to customer satisfaction, revenue growth, market expansion, and long-term business success

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2–5+ years of experience in sales, account management, customer service, or a related customer-facing role
  • Industrial machinery experience is required, preferably involving diesel/gas engines, steam turbines, generators, or other industrial power equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude is required, with the ability to understand mechanical equipment, components, systems, and customer applications
  • Experience selling or supporting the sale of industrial products, equipment, services, or technical solutions is highly desirable
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% as required
  • Experience with CRM systems, quoting tools, and communication platforms is a plus
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, customer engagement, and professional business communication
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and translate technical information into practical solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, customers, and deadlines
  • Account or territory management experience is preferred
  • Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Diesel Technology, or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent technical education or hands-on experience will also be considered
  • Automation experience, including exposure to industrial automation, controls, instrumentation, PLCs, control systems, or related technologies, is preferred
  • Experience selling technical, industrial, power generation, marine, or engineered products and services
  • Experience managing a geographic territory and developing new business opportunities
  • Experience working collaboratively with field service, engineering, operations, and technical teams
  • Successful completion of a drug and alcohol screening may be required
  • Willingness to work in office, field, customer-site, remote, or hybrid environments depending on business and customer needs
