About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide legal advice and support to management and internal clients on product design, development, release, marketing, data protection, security and compliance
Partner with product management, engineering, design, product marketing, support, operations and compliance teams
Advise on legal, regulatory and compliance issues related to cloud services
Advise on requirements across the product lifecycle, including design, development, marketing, public relations, product launch and distribution
Support the sales cycle by developing and managing company agreement options, answering questions, providing documentation, facilitating sales execution and negotiating agreements alongside commercial counsel
Serve as liaison and issue spotter for legal team members in intellectual property, privacy, security and trade compliance
Ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws, regulations and company policy
Analyze, structure, draft and negotiate technology development, licensing and other commercial agreements
Provide ongoing legal counseling in intellectual property, technology and licensing
Review, draft and advise on advertising and marketing materials, press releases, packaging, product launch collateral, sweepstakes and promotions
Conduct training for the legal team and internal teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

Law degree is required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant in-house experience as a product counsel, preferably in the technology industry, with a focus on software, SaaS and cloud offerings
Significant experience with intellectual property, licensing, privacy and trade compliance in the technology sector
Ability to communicate effectively with product managers and engineers and apply legal principles based on understanding of technology architectures and principles
Ability to multi-task, work independently in a fast-paced environment and interface with internal departments and all levels of management
Maintain current understanding of best practices related to legal issues in product development and marketing for technology companies
Experience with HIPAA compliance is highly desired
Strong drafting and negotiation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills
Prior product counseling experience with a technology company
Startup mindset, passion, team-player orientation, high sense of urgency, willingness to roll up sleeves and ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced business
Excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills
