About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the global indirect tax function
  • Own the end-to-end U.S. sales and use tax function, including nexus analysis, taxability determinations, registrations, filings, and payments
  • Manage sales tax compliance across states and local jurisdictions, including exemption certificates and resale documentation
  • Support state and local tax audits, including responses, settlements, and documentation
  • Advise on sales tax implications of products, pricing models, go-to-market strategies, and system changes
  • Monitor U.S. indirect tax law changes and assess business impact
  • Oversee foreign VAT/GST compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Coordinate with external advisors on VAT registrations, returns, audits, and advisory matters
  • Review VAT positions for cross-border transactions, intercompany arrangements, and digital services
  • Support VAT considerations in acquisitions, integrations, and business expansions
  • Partner with Accounting and IT on indirect tax processes in ERP and billing systems
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability of indirect tax compliance
  • Support internal controls, SOX requirements, and indirect tax documentation
  • Collaborate with Accounting on monthly/quarterly close matters
  • Support Legal and Procurement on contract review and indirect tax considerations
  • Provide practical guidance to non-tax stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field
  • 5–10+ years of relevant indirect tax experience (level dependent)
  • Strong hands-on experience with U.S. sales and use tax
  • Working knowledge of VAT/GST compliance in multiple foreign jurisdictions
  • Experience managing indirect tax audits and interacting with tax authorities
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • CPA, JD, or MST preferred
  • Experience in technology, SaaS, or digital services businesses preferred
  • Experience working with third-party compliance providers and tax engines preferred
  • Prior exposure to M&A, integrations, or international expansion preferred
  • Strong technical foundation with a practical, business-oriented mindset
  • Comfort owning processes and building structure where needed
  • Clear communication and ability to translate complex tax rules into actionable guidance
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and managing risk
