About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and mentor a scrum team of 6-10 software engineers
Oversee the full software development lifecycle from planning and design through deployment and maintenance
Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and timelines
Drive project execution, monitor progress, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure timely delivery of software releases
Own software quality and safety through automated testing, rigorous code review, feature flags, and staged releases
Champion operational excellence through monitoring and observability
Lead proactive incident management and ensure swift resolution of production issues
Modernize owned systems, retire legacy services and technical debt, and move toward scalable, reliable, cloud-native architecture
Lead adoption of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor
Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
Communicate project status, technical challenges, and team performance to team members, peers, and leadership
Contribute to quarterly and sprint planning and develop actionable roadmaps
Guide design, development, and delivery of software for Prosper’s credit card and personal loan experiences

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or related field
3+ years of technical management experience
3+ years of working experience with remote teams
8+ years of hands-on engineering experience
Depth in either back end (e.g. Java/Spring Boot) or front end (e.g. React/GraphQL) and working fluency in the other
Experience managing teams that deliver both back-end services and customer-facing web or mobile experiences
Proven track record of creating and managing high performing teams
Excellent project management skills, with experience using tools like Jira
Demonstrated creative problem solving and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions and guide teams through complex technical challenges
Experience with cloud platforms (GCP highly preferred) and distributed systems
Experience using AI-assisted development tools and leading teams that adopt them
Experience with modern monitoring, logging, and observability tools
Strong understanding of software architecture principles, including microservices and cloud-native design
A growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
