About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of scalable, secure and resilient cloud data architectures
  • Translate business requirements into data architectures, technical roadmaps and implementation approaches
  • Provide technical leadership across modern data platforms
  • Design enterprise Databricks and Lakehouse solutions using Delta Lake, medallion architecture, Unity Catalog and Databricks SQL
  • Architect data solutions meeting performance, security, governance and operational requirements
  • Shape scalable batch and real-time data pipelines
  • Direct data modelling, ingestion, transformation, orchestration and integration
  • Lead cloud migration and modernisation of legacy and on-premises data environments
  • Establish DataOps, CI/CD and infrastructure automation approaches
  • Support performance and cost optimisation of cloud data environments
  • Lead technical delivery across complex client assignments
  • Build trusted relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders
  • Lead or contribute to solution shaping, bids, proposals, client presentations and estimations
  • Identify opportunities to create further value for clients and contribute to sales targets
  • Manage resources across client delivery, practice commitments and business development activity
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to architects, data engineers and colleagues
  • Support knowledge sharing, capability development and recruitment
  • Stay current with cloud, data, analytics and AI technologies and assess their application to client challenges

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant experience designing and delivering enterprise cloud data architectures within complex client or business environments
  • Deep expertise in Databricks and modern Lakehouse architecture, including practical knowledge of Delta Lake and Unity Catalog
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS and modern enterprise data platforms, including Databricks and Microsoft Fabric or another cloud data platform
  • Strong understanding of modern data architecture patterns, data modelling and ETL/ELT approaches
  • Practical experience with Spark, PySpark, Python and SQL and the design of scalable batch and real-time data pipelines
  • Experience designing data governance, security and data quality controls
  • Experience with DataOps, CI/CD and infrastructure as code
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex requirements into practical solutions
  • Experience leading complex technical delivery and providing direction to multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong client relationship, communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable experience developing bids, proposals, solution responses and client presentations
  • Commercial awareness, including balancing delivery, business development and chargeability expectations
  • Experience coaching and developing others
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience is desirable
  • Significant professional experience in data architecture, data engineering or technology consulting, including leadership of complex cloud data engagements
  • Desirable: Snowflake or other enterprise data platforms
  • Desirable: Relevant Databricks accreditation or certification
  • Desirable: Relevant Microsoft Azure, AWS or comparable cloud certification
  • Desirable: AI/ML data workflows and advanced analytics
  • Desirable: Docker or Kubernetes
