About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support laboratory components of the EHR, clinical decision support, and laboratory-specific information systems associated with laboratory testing
- Design and develop effective laboratory workflows, operational processes, and system functions
- Gather data and conduct sophisticated analysis to support leadership decision-making
- Implement changes aligned with patient safety, strategic, and regulatory goals
- Build relationships with system and operational leadership, frontline staff, governance groups, multidisciplinary staff, and vendors
- Prioritize demands, set expectations, establish metrics and targets, and manage change implementation
- Provide technical and application expertise and recommend enhancements or modifications to laboratory information systems
- Respond to improvement needs in laboratory computer-system operations
- Document system designs and workflow processes
- Liaise between laboratory stakeholders and system build teams
- Design, analyze, and optimize clinical and laboratory information systems
- Support standardization, integration, efficiency, and compliance with policies, procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements
- Share knowledge with team members
- Develop change communications and training materials with the education team
- Perform routine maintenance and assist with testing updates and new releases before production
- Travel frequently among facilities and occasionally among Providence regions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical discipline, Information Technology/Informatics, Business, Education, Management, Communications, or related field or equivalent education/experience
- 2 years in a position with the same or similar primary duties working with a clinical information system within a healthcare setting
- Experience with EHR systems
- Experience with benefits and challenges of adult learning
- Knowledge of health information technology, including electronic medical records, laboratory information systems, CPOE, and laboratory-provider links
- Valid driver's license, care license, and reliable vehicle for transportation throughout the region
- Ability to work on-call, after hours, variable shifts, and weekends when required
- Compliance with annual safety and competency testing
- Informatics certifications or credentialing preferred upon hire
