About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders, or an AHIMA credential: National Certified Coding Associate, National Certified Coding Specialist, National Registered Health Information Administrator, or National Registered Health Information Technician
  • 1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree in Medical Record Technology
  • Preferred: Completion of a certified coding program with intensive anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process, and pharmacology coursework
  • Preferred: 3 years of inpatient coding in an acute care setting
  • Preferred: Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines
  • Ability to code according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines
