About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct collection functions to reduce overall delinquency and prevent losses
  • Proactively reduce delinquency in the unsecured loan portfolio in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal collection laws and regulations
  • Perform outreach to members with delinquent unsecured loans
  • Process charge-off loans
  • Maintain settlements
  • Process loan modifications
  • Perform account maintenance and other unsecured account functions
  • Handle incoming member contacts, including calls and emails
  • Make outbound calls
  • Process legal collections work
  • Manage delinquent accounts according to Collection Policy and Procedures
  • Analyze and maintain past-due consumer loans to prevent further delinquency
  • Research and analyze accounts using collections software and other sources
  • Counsel members on reduced and deferred payments
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and manage risks
  • Ensure satisfactory work production with third-party vendors
  • Assist in training new staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School (Required)
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education (Required)
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 10:00am–6:00pm
  • Ability to work every third Saturday, 8:00am–4:00pm, with one weekday off that week
  • Knowledge of collection policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of state and federal collection laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in collections software and other account research sources
  • Ability to handle incoming and outbound member contacts, including calls and emails
  • Ability to process legal collections work
  • Ability to counsel members on reduced and deferred payments
  • Ability to manage risks and ensure legal compliance
  • Ability to interact with third-party vendors
  • Ability to assist in training new staff
