About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Represent PTC’s products to medical professionals specializing in neurological diseases and/or Fabry disease
- Generate sales and communicate and promote products’ clinical and economic benefits
- Build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and staff
- Educate healthcare staff and identify commercial and scientific growth opportunities
- Work cross-functionally with internal departments and external resources on sales-related issues
- Support adherence to regulatory requirements and company SOPs
- Achieve assigned sales targets compliantly and contribute to the metabolism business unit
- Implement marketing strategies to meet sales and patient objectives for neurology and/or Fabry disease products
- Collaborate with Patient Services, Patient Engagement, Marketing, Managed Markets, and Medical Affairs
- Develop partnerships with targeted physicians and healthcare staff
- Identify key treatment centers and facilities and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize patient care
- Establish and maintain relationships with patient and disease-focused advocacy groups
- Use a consultative, solution-oriented sales approach
- Address product access and reimbursement issues
- Cultivate relationships with key thought leaders in neurology and/or Fabry disease
- Perform additional tasks assigned by management
- Travel up to 75% within a multi-state territory, including overnight and weekend travel as needed
- Travel outside the assigned territory for sales meetings, training, and other business activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required; degrees in life sciences, business, or healthcare preferred
- Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare sales experience
- Minimum 3 years of rare disease, orphan drug, or highly specialized sales experience
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and growing/managing a territory
- Selling experience in specialized clinics, hospitals, and academic centers
- Ability to perform complete account selling
- Ability to analyze complex technical data and develop strategic, actionable business plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, organization, and time-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, including nights and weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license
- Personal automobile with active vehicle insurance policy
- Ability to travel daily to/from customer accounts and drive long distances
- Ability to meet hospital and medical-facility vendor credentialing requirements, including training, background checks, and proof of immunization
- Experience supporting orphan, rare disease, and/or specialized drugs preferred
- Experience in a small, fast-growing, entrepreneurial sales environment preferred
- Start-up and new product launch experience preferred
