About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze financial payroll data to determine employer tax liability and tax account registration requirements
- Ensure employers are properly registered for local, state withholding, and state unemployment taxes
- Perform daily tax reporting to calculate and administer federal tax deposits across multiple states and waiver plans
- Perform detailed tax reconciliations
- Manage tax notices and provider tax inquiries
- Perform tax account registrations, account maintenance, and disenrollments
- Review and upload authorized documents to third-party tax representative accounts
- Calculate, document, and validate tax files and daily and quarterly federal tax deposits
- Log and resolve tax notices and file related documents
- Prepare written correspondence and communicate with tax agencies to resolve registration issues
- Perform special projects supporting tax account data integrity
- Communicate state portal changes to the Supervisor
- Manage multistate tax inboxes and provider case requests
- Review and delegate tax voicemails through the internal CRM
- Maintain communication with local and state tax agency staff
- Participate in audits as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activity streams
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to change priorities as needed
- Ability to research tax registration regulations and adapt PPL processes to changes
- Ability to work in a team situation and autonomously with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of accounting principles
- Excellent PC spreadsheet and database skills
- College education is preferred or equivalent work experience required
- 2+ years of experience in data entry or financial administration experience in a payroll environment
