About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide comprehensive patient support throughout urgent care visits through both clinical and administrative duties
- Welcome patients and visitors and provide customer service
- Answer and route telephone calls and take accurate messages
- Register patients, verify demographics, insurance eligibility, and benefits
- Collect copays, deductibles, coinsurance, outstanding balances, and other payments
- Schedule appointments and assist with required forms and documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records while complying with HIPAA and privacy requirements
- Perform administrative duties including filing, faxing, copying, scanning, and data entry
- Obtain and document patient vital signs
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatment
- Perform point-of-care testing, drug screens, physical examination components, EKGs, and phlebotomy
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, wound care, irrigations, incision and drainage, and nebulizer treatments
- Respond appropriately during emergencies and execute provider orders
- Complete clinical notes, CPT codes, and required documentation
- Perform authorized patient follow-up calls
- Clean and disinfect examination rooms and maintain clinical areas
- Stock supplies and monitor inventory levels
- Assist with patient flow, transfers, and movement of equipment within training and safety requirements
- Transition between front desk and medical assistant responsibilities based on patient volume and operational needs
- Collaborate with coworkers, providers, and management and escalate patient concerns when necessary
- Attend meetings, training, and company-sponsored events
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current CPR and First Aid/BLS certification required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred, if applicable to the position
- Previous urgent care or outpatient medical experience highly desirable
- Previous phlebotomy and EKG experience highly desirable
- Ability to perform clinical procedures and testing following appropriate training and established protocols
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced telephone skills
- Basic to intermediate computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to transition between administrative and clinical responsibilities throughout the workday
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision while following provider direction and established protocols
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, providers, and coworkers
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to accept responsibility for actions and respond positively to feedback
- Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with tense or difficult situations
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, moving equipment, and assisting with patient transfers as required
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing patient and facility needs
- Flexibility to work at all 4 Pulse MD Urgent Care locations
- Schedule flexibility, including possible weekends and holidays
- Full-time: minimum of three 12-hour shifts per week; part-time: average of two 12-hour shifts per week
