About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead applied research and innovation projects translating gut-health science into technologies and product concepts for baked goods
- Act as the internal and external scientific reference for gut health
- Connect scientific evidence, nutritional and regulatory requirements, consumer trends and business needs
- Define research questions, endpoints and study pathways across in vitro, in vivo and clinical approaches
- Coordinate studies with universities, hospitals and specialized research partners
- Translate discoveries, trends and Puratos capabilities into technologies, formulations and product concepts involving prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics or combinations
- Lead transversal projects with GRS Fermentation, THT, Health & Well-Being, Regulatory and Business Units
- Align priorities, feasibility, milestones and market relevance
- Work with countries, Business Units and customers to define applications and credible consumer and customer messages
- Consider industrial and economic feasibility
- Build internal capability through training and best-practice sharing
- Develop an active external network and represent Puratos at conferences, seminars and industry events
- Protect know-how through patents where relevant
- Plan and prioritize resources, monitor milestones and drive execution from research concept to market-ready outcome
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree or PhD in food science, bioscience engineering, nutrition, microbiology, biotechnology or a related applied-science field
- Approximately 7–10 years of experience in research, innovation or product formulation connected to gut health
- Demonstrated experience organizing scientific or clinical studies
- Strong knowledge of the gut microbiome
- Experience with prebiotics, probiotics and/or postbiotics
- Experience applying gut-health knowledge in food is essential
- Bakery-science experience is a strong advantage
- Ability to turn complex evidence into clear, compelling messages and solutions
- Proven ability to build trust, create alignment and lead multidisciplinary projects across functions, countries and external partnerships
- Strong planning, prioritization and quality focus
- Confident written and verbal communication for scientific and non-specialist audiences
- Fluent English; additional languages are an asset
- Willingness to travel around 25% of the time
