About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead enterprise accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions
- Ensure timely month-end close processes and accurate financial reporting
- Serve as the primary liaison with external financial audit firms
- Identify and implement accounting process optimization opportunities
- Collaborate with third-party valuation firms to assess mortgage servicing rights
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Oversee cash flow management
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure intercompany accounts are balanced and bank accounts are reconciled
- Establish and maintain controls designed to deter fraud
- Manage internal reporting and disbursement reviews
- Oversee payroll and debt reporting
- Monitor lender covenant compliance
- Coordinate multiple audits
- Document management's position on current and emerging accounting treatments under U.S. GAAP
- Enhance key accounting processes and controls
- Update and document accounting policies and procedures
- Serve as the finance executive liaison with auditors and regulators
- Develop and support the growth of the accounting team through guidance, coaching, and documented procedures
- Review contracts to determine asset ownership and appropriate financial recognition
- Partner with third-party valuation firms on mortgage servicing rights
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, balance sheet, audit, risk management, and financial control activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 10+ years of experience in a senior accounting role within mortgage servicing for financial services segments, including Controller-level experience
- Mortgage servicing experience
- Previous experience managing people and leading teams
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Knowledge of investor reporting requirements including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae
- Mortgage servicing rights valuation experience
- Experience with financial audits, internal controls, and regulatory compliance
- Deep understanding of enterprise accounting systems, cash flow operations, cost structures, and financial resource planning
- Experience with mortgage servicing platforms and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
- Strong financial reporting, analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills
- Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; or Rosemont, IL
- Must be based in Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; or Rosemont, IL
