About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance of a fleet of 50 or more gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles
- Oversee preventive maintenance scheduling, repair expenses, vendor relationships, facility standards, and a diverse maintenance team of 15 or more employees
- Identify areas for improvement and reinforce maintenance management and repair expense policies and procedures
- Schedule preventive maintenance tasks and maintenance personnel to meet operational requirements within budget
- Communicate maintenance requirements to maximize efficiency
- Select, develop, and retain a diverse team capable of delivering expected performance results and with growth potential
- Challenge the team to improve operations and ensure compliance with standards
- Identify maintenance employee training requirements and ensure successful completion
- Establish a network of local repair vendors for cost-effective repair and servicing
- Ensure the shop or facility is clean and maintained professionally
- Maintain Pursuit’s safety standards in the maintenance facility and participate in the Brewster Transportation Health and Safety team
- Lead maintenance personnel in day-to-day activities for safe and efficient completion
- Prepare management reports as required
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties
- Track and report weekly maintenance issues and potential risks to the General Manager
- Maintain positive working relationships with Parks Canada, suppliers, and repair personnel
- Participate as a member of the Brewster Transportation management team
- Help coordinate asset transfers between Pursuit’s Brewster Transportation Columbia Icefields operations
- Suggest capital improvements to increase efficiency, improve guest and employee experiences, and support environmental stewardship
- Lead 15 or more employees and delegate effectively
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous management experience in fleet maintenance of a location of 50 vehicles or more, preferably within the motor-coach industry
- Proven ability to troubleshoot problems, create and implement solutions
- Consent to a criminal record check
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to understand and administer discipline
- Experience with hands-on training preferred
- Knowledge of safety and training procedures as they pertain to a maintenance facility
- Good organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details
- Ability to work flexible hours as required
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Requires light lifting and carrying
- Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills, and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment
- Scheduling and setting priorities for work to be accomplished
- Operational knowledge of motorized gasoline- and diesel-fueled vehicles, shop equipment, and tools
- Valid Driver’s License
