About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the product vision and roadmap for payroll and integrations
- Set direction and align the company behind the product strategy
- Drive payroll initiatives across Canadian and US jurisdictions from discovery through launch and adoption
- Own the integrations portfolio end to end, including build, maintenance, refactoring, and sunset decisions
- Set API and platform direction
- Speak with customers regularly to understand payroll operations, pain points, and priorities
- Define and monitor metrics for payroll accuracy and integration health
- Collaborate with design, engineering, QA, support, sales, and customer success
- Build go-to-market plans with customer-facing teams
- Ensure launches achieve customer adoption
- Learn the payroll product, engage with customers, support, and implementation teams during the first two months
- Publish a Canada/US payroll and integrations roadmap during months three to four
- Ship a meaningful product improvement and establish an integrations strategy during months five to six
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years in product management
- Several years owning a product area end to end rather than executing a defined roadmap
- Hands-on payroll experience in Canada or the United States
- Experience building, running, or owning payroll products or payroll operations in at least one of Canada or the United States
- Understanding of remittance deadlines, year-end, and tax compliance
- B2B SaaS experience with real operational complexity
- Experience with implementation, data migration, or third-party systems
- Comfort working directly with data
- Product-level fluency with APIs and integrations
- Ability to hold design conversations with engineers and make sound tradeoffs
- Clear, persuasive writing skills
- Track record of shipping products that customers adopted
- Payroll experience across both Canada and the United States is a strong advantage
- Experience in another highly regulated domain such as benefits, tax, fintech, or healthcare is nice to have
- Platform, API, or partner ecosystem product work is nice to have
- POS or HRIS integration experience is nice to have
- Hospitality, restaurant, or multi-unit franchise customer experience is nice to have
