About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate new-hire benefit enrollment, qualifying life-event changes, and benefit terminations
  • Respond to employee questions about eligibility, coverage, enrollment, deductions, claims navigation, and benefit resources
  • Escalate complex benefits matters appropriately
  • Maintain accurate employee benefit records across HRIS, benefits administration, payroll, and carrier systems
  • Review enrollment and eligibility data, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate corrections
  • Support annual open enrollment, including system configuration, employee communications, educational materials, tracking, and audits
  • Assist with carrier invoice and eligibility-file reconciliation and resolve variances
  • Assist with administration of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending, health savings, retirement, wellness, and other benefit programs
  • Provide administrative support for leave-related benefit continuation, premium collection, and return-to-work updates
  • Assist with required notices, reporting, audits, and record retention related to benefit laws and plan requirements
  • Prepare routine benefits reports and monitor service trends
  • Coordinate with brokers, consultants, third-party administrators, and benefit carriers
  • Protect confidential employee and health information and follow privacy, security, and records-management requirements
  • Support benefits communications, employee education sessions, and other HR initiatives
  • Complete required trainings and perform other duties as assigned
  • No supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, payroll, or a related administrative role preferred
  • Working knowledge of employee benefit programs and applicable requirements, including HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, and Section 125 plans, preferred
  • Experience using HR, payroll, benefits administration, or carrier systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to analyze detailed information, maintain accurate records, manage competing deadlines, and follow issues through resolution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and commitment to confidentiality and service
  • Strong employee-service orientation and ability to communicate benefits information clearly and respectfully
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with employees, HR partners, vendors, and carriers
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support continuous process improvement
  • Ability to effectively use HR, benefits, payroll, carrier, and Microsoft Office systems
  • Completion of all required trainings designated by the company and accreditation/licensing entities
  • Ability to occasionally travel and lift/move up to 25 pounds
