About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Meet or exceed sales targets for instrumentation/automation within the defined geography
  • Meet or exceed sales growth targets for associated automated consumables
  • Support account managers’ business plans and ensure strategic revenue-growth alignment
  • Develop tactical plans to maximize revenues
  • Respond to account manager and customer requests within 24 hours
  • Lead and drive mid-funnel opportunities to close
  • Provide intermediate-level understanding of all instruments in the portfolio
  • Provide expert guidance and connect customers with suitable organizational resources
  • Provide quarterly instrumentation-sales forecasts and update them weekly
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key customers and references
  • Close business to increase account-manager effectiveness
  • Use the SFDC CRM database to input and provide customer and sales information
  • Maintain sales-call reports and update opportunities at least every 21 days
  • Organize meetings and communication channels across business units
  • Conduct twice-monthly market calls with each account manager
  • Develop shared task lists to foster joint accountability
  • Travel nationally for meetings and conferences and regionally for routine sales responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years sales experience
  • Proven track record
  • Proven experience of various nucleic acid techniques such as extraction, quality control, PCR/qPCR/dPCR
  • Knowledge of relevant markets within the research and clinical molecular biology space
  • Excellent communication skills at all business levels
  • Willingness to travel
  • Needs to be based near a major airport
  • Territory: MO, KS, NE, IA, MN, WI, IL, IN
  • Ideally based in Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, or Kansas City
  • 3-4 days in the field per week is expected
