About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Replace the tightly coupled identity verification solution with a provider-agnostic service usable by any Qonto team
  • Build primarily in Ruby, with some Go
  • Improve KYC conversion from KYC started to KYC submission across backend and web
  • Own the web side of provider integrations, including loading provider SDKs in the browser
  • Handle provider errors and keep the web integration running as usage scales
  • Build infrastructure behind Qonto’s KYC flow
  • Handle provider failures and retries
  • Improve observability and operate integrations safely in production
  • Design an interchangeable layer across multiple verification providers
  • Build reliable APIs for other Qonto teams
  • Report to Nicola, Engineering Manager of the Identity Verification team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Backend experience building and running backend services in production
  • Backend-first working approach
  • Production web development experience with React
  • Ability to maintain and scale an existing React application
  • Experience integrating external providers or SDKs
  • Ability to design integrations so a single provider does not create lock-in
  • Ability to work across backend and web
  • Ability to partner with a staff web engineer on architecture and complex integrations
  • Ruby experience is a plus, not a requirement
