About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join Quantexa’s R&D team to build and shape the next generation of products
- Work on the Quantexa Platform, a Contextual Decision Intelligence offering
- Develop back-end services primarily written in Scala and deployed as microservices
- Build scalable, highly performant, distributed systems using Akka and Monix
- Apply functional and strongly typed programming with libraries such as Cats and Shapeless
- Use event sourcing and CQRS in the persistence layer
- Process, analyse, and display huge volumes of data to help detect anomalous and suspicious activity
- Support solutions for fraud, financial crime, data management, and related business problems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Commercial Scala and Functional Programming experience; relevant commercial backgrounds such as Java with some non-commercial Scala experience may be considered
- Experience across the full engineering life cycle, from design and implementation through testing and deployment
- Experience with DevOps tooling and approaches
- Ability to design, build, and deliver high-quality, well-engineered solutions to complex problems
- Ability to take a big-picture approach and ensure solutions work within the wider system
- Beneficial but not essential: big data technology experience, ideally Spark; Hadoop or Elasticsearch also useful
- Beneficial but not essential: building production data-processing pipelines, including traditional ETL and/or analytics pipelines
- Beneficial but not essential: data cleansing, parsing, standardization, and improving data quality/integrity
