About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, review, edit, format, and maintain SOPs, memoranda, design documents, requirements documents, reports, manuals, templates, and email notifications
- Prepare user manuals, online knowledge center content, SOPs, online help, getting-started guides, quick-reference materials, and training materials
- Translate complex technical information into clear content for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge and experience
- Interview subject matter experts and technical personnel, organize collected information, and document it for nontechnical audiences
- Develop and maintain content for the IA Service Center knowledge library and other approved knowledge repositories
- Create technical models and visual artifacts, including architecture diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, component models, sequence diagrams, and flowcharts
- Review documentation for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, readability, grammar, and compliance with approved standards
- Apply approved document templates, style guides, version-control practices, and quality-assurance procedures
- Coordinate document reviews, incorporate stakeholder comments, resolve inconsistencies, and prepare final deliverables
- Develop accessible, easy-to-use materials that improve knowledge transfer, training, product adoption, and customer experience
- Track assigned activities and deliverables to ensure schedule, quality, and performance requirements are met
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of four (4) years of experience developing documentation, reports, manuals, and related materials for IT programs or projects
- Technical writing experience, including drafting, reviewing, editing, proofreading, and formatting technical deliverables
- Excellent written communication skills with strong knowledge of English spelling, grammar, composition, and usage
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience performing document editing, formatting, and correction activities
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate documentation for quality, clarity, accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance
- Familiarity with IT project management processes and related documentation, including SDLC documents and templates, FEA, CPIC, risk management, and IT security management
- Familiarity with federal IT management laws, regulations, and processes, including the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996, E-Government Act of 2002, and FISMA
- Ability to interview subject matter experts and translate complex technical information for nontechnical audiences
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet assigned schedule, quality, and performance requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain the Government security clearance and/or suitability determination required for the position
- Must meet all applicable federal contract requirements
- Experience supporting federal government agencies or federal IT programs preferred
- Experience supporting the U.S. Department of the Interior and/or Indian Affairs preferred
- Experience developing content for knowledge management systems, service centers, or online knowledge libraries preferred
- Experience creating technical diagrams using Microsoft Visio or comparable tools preferred
- Active Government security clearance preferred
