About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own Rain's Agent Control Layer, a developer-facing platform for safe agentic payments
- Define primitives for agent authority, including spend scopes, allowlists, velocity and amount ceilings, task-bound credentials, approvals, and revocation
- Own scoped virtual cards for agents provisioned for a single merchant, amount, and task
- Extend wallets, virtual accounts, onramps, offramps, cross-border payments, and related infrastructure to agent initiators
- Own API endpoint design, error semantics, idempotency, webhooks, sandbox and simulation tooling, SDKs, and reference agents
- Own documentation and onboarding, with time-to-first-authorized-agent-transaction as a key metric
- Run design-partner feedback loops with agent builders and ship based on integration and debugging insights
- Build and sequence the roadmap from first principles and discontinue ineffective initiatives quickly
- Partner with risk and compliance on Know Your Agent, identity, attestation, delegated authority, auditability, and dispute handling
- Represent Rain's technical perspective in Agentic Payments Alliance working groups and with Visa, Mastercard, and stablecoin partners
- Write specifications, launch posts, and positioning explaining controlled agentic payments
- Report to the Head of Product and collaborate with engineering, risk and compliance, network partnerships, and developers
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years in product management
- Meaningful experience with a developer-facing platform, API, or infrastructure product
- Experience shipping a product engineers chose to build on
- Technical depth: ability to read API diffs, write queries, prototype against endpoints, and participate in architecture reviews
- Experience taking a product from 0-to-1 to real usage in an ambiguous market
- Payments or fintech fluency, or ability to acquire it quickly
- Knowledge of authorization flows, issuing, interchange, chargebacks, settlement, and KYC/KYB, or ability to learn them quickly
- Judgment under risk and ability to reason about capability-versus-loss tradeoffs
- Strong writing skills for specs, documentation, and launch narratives
- Bias for motion and ability to ship narrow products quickly
- Experience building or deploying AI agents, including tool use, orchestration frameworks, MCP, or evals (bonus)
- Stablecoin or onchain payments background (bonus)
- Experience with card networks, issuing processors, or sponsor banks (bonus)
- Early-stage company experience during fast scaling (bonus)
- Ability to work in a hybrid role and come into a NYC office 3 days a week
- Legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without restrictions
- Four-year university graduation
