About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build payment infrastructure across multiple countries, currencies, and regulatory regimes
  • Design multi-currency accounting and reconciliation systems at scale
  • Integrate with international banking systems and payment rails including SEPA, BACS, and SWIFT
  • Launch new markets from 0 to 1 while scaling existing markets
  • Collaborate with compliance, product, operations, and external partners on regional requirements
  • Own problems end-to-end, from architecture to production reliability and partner integrations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of backend or platform engineering experience in high-scale production environments
  • Strong systems design skills — comfortable taking ambiguous requirements and building reliable, maintainable solutions
  • Experience working in fast-moving environments with high ambiguity and independent ownership
  • Comfort with distributed systems, performance optimization, and production reliability
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or capital markets (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with financial concepts: multi-currency accounting, reconciliation, cross-border compliance (nice to have)
  • Experience integrating with third-party financial APIs or international banking partners (nice to have)
  • Interest in or exposure to international regulatory environments and compliance requirements (nice to have)
