About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and operate critical infrastructure across compute, storage, messaging, and observability systems
  • Drive architectural change by proposing solutions for reliability and scalability issues and leading them through resolution
  • Partner with product teams during design reviews and embed golden paths
  • Contribute hands-on to Ramp’s move to a cellular architecture
  • Support AI-powered products by developing infrastructure patterns and reusable golden paths
  • Build developer tooling and self-service infrastructure for cost, performance, and reliability visibility
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and eliminate incident root causes
  • Initiate cross-team architectural reviews
  • Lead company-wide reliability and scalability initiatives from problem identification through completion
  • Write production code and own infrastructure systems end-to-end

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of software engineering experience shipping high-quality architectures for critical systems
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals; clean, well-tested, production-ready code
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems at production scale
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider; AWS preferred
  • Familiarity with observability practices, including SLOs, error budgets, alerting, and dashboards
  • Track record of leading technical projects end-to-end, including cross-team coordination
  • Comfortable using AI tooling and coding agents in everyday engineering workflows
  • Ability to read database query plans, review system design documents, write Terraform modules, and participate in incidents
  • Experience with cellular or multi-tenant architecture patterns is a bonus
  • Prior work on workflow orchestration systems such as Temporal is a bonus
  • Contributions to developer experience or internal platform tooling are a bonus
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated industries such as FedRAMP or SOC 2 is a bonus
