About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with state tax compliance, audits, and notices
  • Assist with technology improvement processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Research and implement applicable IRS and state regulations and interpretations
  • Research tax ramifications of moderately complex transactions
  • Prepare and review workpapers, calculations, and forms for federal and state tax compliance
  • Review federal and state income tax returns, including consolidated/combined returns
  • Supervise, review, and analyze state apportionment and allocation workpapers
  • Review annual tax return extensions and quarterly estimated payment calculations
  • Respond to federal, state, and local jurisdiction notices
  • Analyze FASB 109 (ASC 740) and FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) regulations
  • Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions, related financial statement disclosures, and internal stakeholder reports
  • Maintain regular contact with internal and external clients and auditors
  • Handle tax consulting work in response to client needs
  • May lead defined projects and provide guidance to colleagues
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in tax accounting and compliance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax return filing requirements and methodologies
  • Knowledge of state apportionment and sourcing concepts
  • Knowledge of tax accounting and reporting concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of FASB 109 (ASC 740) and FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) regulations
  • Knowledge of principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations
  • Knowledge of OneSource Tax Software
  • Knowledge of AI Technology (ChatGPT/Copilot)
  • Skills in federal and state tax compliance, state audit management, and tax planning
  • Skills in researching and interpreting federal and state tax requirements
  • Skills in tax technology, automation, data analytics, and process improvement
  • Skills in reviewing and interpreting workpapers, tax returns, and financial documents
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply complex IRS and state rules, regulations, and requirements
  • Ability to identify and resolve moderate tax issues
  • Ability to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements
  • Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with interruptions, changing priorities, and deadlines
