About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute RBC US Wealth Management’s alternatives ambitions
  • Produce internal and external publications about the alternatives market
  • Organize and participate in webcasts on alternatives topics and market outlook
  • Collaborate with Marketing on alternatives campaigns and website content
  • Collaborate with U.S. Investment Committee and Global Portfolio Advisory Committee members to formulate market views across alternative asset classes
  • Assist UHNW advisors and internal partners in reviewing client portfolios and allocations, focusing on alternatives
  • Create and implement a proactive relationship-management service model
  • Monitor emerging alternatives-market trends and make informed investment recommendations
  • Create an actionable alternatives investment framework explaining risks and opportunities to advisors and clients
  • Communicate cross-asset investment views and economic perspectives through presentations, publications, and marketing programs
  • Relate key market developments to managed-portfolio positioning for clients, especially alternative asset classes
  • Research model portfolio development incorporating alternative investments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Economics
  • 10+ years’ financial industry experience
  • 5+ years’ experience as an investment strategist or similar role
  • Series 7 & 66 licensed or ability to obtain in 180 days
  • Previous experience working with financial advisors
  • Knowledge of complex investment structures and esoteric investments
  • Wealth management and investment products expertise
  • Ability to listen to client needs and make decisions/actions supporting long-term goals
  • Effective problem identification, analytical, and resolution skills
  • Ability to distill complex financial information into key points and recommendations
  • Knowledge of asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk-return analytics, performance measurement, and reporting
  • Strong ability to interact with all levels of staff and maintain relationships supporting firm goals
  • CFA®, CAIA®, or CFP® designation or working to obtain preferred
  • 2+ years HNW client experience preferred
  • Portfolio management experience preferred
  • Experience in investment performance and risk analysis, particularly in multi-asset portfolio management preferred
  • Experience recommending and researching private investment opportunities and their fit in diversified high-net-worth portfolios preferred
