About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Audit Director and Chief Audit Executive with audits, regulatory and internal audit issue validation, quarterly continuous risk monitoring, and annual planning activities
- Provide assurance coverage of Retail and Real Estate Lending businesses for compliance with US regulations
- Assess second-line risk management practices over lending businesses and corporate functions
- Lead audit teams through the end-to-end lifecycle of individual audits and special reviews
- Lead planning, execution, and reporting activities for individual audits in line with RBC Bank audit methodology
- Draft audit scope and coverage approaches
- Oversee teams and review work papers, including clearing audit findings with senior management
- Perform fieldwork testing
- Manage resource planning to ensure sufficient resources for audits
- Develop and execute data analytics testing for audits and continuous risk monitoring
- Maintain stakeholder relationships and provide insights to businesses as a trusted partner
- Support skills development initiatives, including coaching and mentoring junior staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8 plus years of Internal and/or External Audit experience in the Banking/Financial Services industry
- Working experience with US Retail banking regulations related to Consumer Compliance (i.e. alphabet regulations)
- Proven experience in leading teams and audit engagements
- Strong analytical skills and ability to quickly process new information, connect dots, and formulate a view on risk
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through clear articulation of relevant risks and mitigating controls
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Ability to motivate and coach junior audit staff
- Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree preferably in Accounting and/or Finance
- Knowledge of Information technology risks and controls
- Experience in data analytics, including data gathering, transformation, analytics, and reporting
- Professional Designation (CIA, CPA, CRCM) or ability to obtain within 24 months of start date
