About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee editing and production of the Irish Daily Star’s Chic celebrity and TV listings magazine
- Produce and sub-edit quality, engaging magazine pages across a 7-day week
- Ensure the magazine gets off stone to deadline
- Draw up weekly content plans covering Irish celebrity, showbiz, TV, lifestyle features, and feature writing
- Maintain high editorial standards and ensure pages match house style
- Meet off-stone deadlines
- Report directly to the Group Production Editor
- Write features when required
- Produce and sub-edit pages for other Reach magazine titles when required
- Collaborate with the editor, backbench, news editors, picture editors, and magazine colleagues
- Share and collate feature and TV listing content
- Complete page production in line with established KPIs and benchmarks
- Ensure compliance with legal, IPSO, PCI, Reach policies, and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Extremely creative journalist with strong ideas and willingness to try new ways of working
- Excellent InDesign, ContentWatch, and InCopy skills
- Proven ability in page design, sub-editing, page proofing, and headline writing
- Experience producing pages in a fast-paced daily newspaper or national magazine environment
- NCTJ qualification ideally
- Experience working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
- Ability to operate within legal requirements with attention to detail
- Familiarity with house style and strong brand positioning
- Experience aligning pages with strong national news brands
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and demonstrate excellent organisational skills
- First-class communication skills and strong news sense
- Ability to work 5 days over a 7-day rota, including weekends and late shifts
- Candidates must be based in Ireland
