About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own end-to-end delivery of customer-facing capabilities from discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, release, and production observability
  • Design and build performant Node.js/TypeScript APIs and event-driven services integrating with internal and third-party systems
  • Develop modern React/TypeScript web applications with accessible, resilient UI patterns and high-quality state/data management
  • Improve code quality through unit, integration, and UI tests, code reviews, and engineering best practices
  • Make architectural tradeoffs involving performance, cost, security, and developer velocity
  • Communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Partner with Product and Design on discovery, scoping, and outcomes
  • Mentor engineers and improve team practices
  • Instrument, measure, and iterate using logging, tracing, dashboards, and A/B experiments
  • Build products for LOFT Moving and the Moving Marketplace, resident-facing applications that help residents move into their new homes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 to 8+ years building production software
  • 3+ years with TypeScript across front end and/or back end
  • Expertise in Node.js with TypeScript, including Express, Fastify, NestJS or similar, async patterns, performance profiling, and memory/CPU tuning
  • Expertise in React with TypeScript, including component design, hooks, state/data management, WCAG accessibility, and React Testing Library/Jest
  • Experience designing stable REST/GraphQL APIs
  • Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC, pagination, rate limiting, and telemetry
  • Proficiency with Jest and integration testing
  • Strong debugging and observability skills using logs, metrics, and traces
  • Ability to lead technical discussions, write design documents, and influence product direction
  • Preferred: experience with queues/streams such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, or Service Bus
  • Preferred: AWS or Azure, Docker, Kubernetes or ECS/AKS, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
  • Preferred: web performance profiling, Web Vitals, CDN strategies, SRE practices, chaos testing, and OpenTelemetry
  • Preferred: threat modeling, dependency scanning, SAST/DAST, and secrets automation
  • Links to social media, blog, or portfolio work are optional
