Key responsibilities & impact

Architect and scale the reinforcement learning environments platform and underlying infrastructure required to support data collection at scale
Build and operate scalable backend services, APIs, and data-generation pipelines
Develop modular environment domains that integrate directly with model training and evaluation workflows
Translate research requirements and prototypes into reliable, production-quality systems
Build intuitive full-stack tools and interfaces supporting research, engineering, and operational workflows
Design resilient systems focused on reliability, observability, performance, maintainability, and security
Develop and maintain data models, storage systems, and platform integrations
Improve platform architecture and engineering practices to increase developer velocity and system quality
Partner with Research, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to define technical requirements and advance a shared roadmap
Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architecture and system-design decisions
Diagnose complex system issues and drive technical problems through resolution
Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code while helping establish a high standard for engineering quality

Requirements

What you’ll need

Remote, United States-based role
Experienced full-stack engineer with deep strength in backend systems and platform architecture
6+ years of professional experience building full-stack applications, backend systems, distributed systems, or platform infrastructure
Deep proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern backend architecture
Strong experience designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines
Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, data modeling, distributed systems, and system design
Demonstrated experience building and operating production systems on AWS or GCP
Experience developing reliable, observable, and performant production systems
Ability to translate research or product requirements into maintainable technical architectures and implementations
Experience with model training, model evaluation, reinforcement learning environments, AI agents, or data-generation systems is preferred
Strong understanding of software engineering practices, including testing, code review, technical documentation, and production operations
Sharp problem-solving capabilities and the ability to diagnose complex issues across the technology stack
Ability to collaborate effectively with teams across functions and geographies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
U.S. citizenship is required
