About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain the Python language and its ecosystem
- Contribute to the Python ecosystem in Fedora Linux
- Create new Python packages for Fedora
- Update existing packages and release new versions
- Work with Fedora infrastructure
- Contribute to upstream Python projects and work with the upstream community
- Solve integration issues between Python packages and Linux
- Learn and use Python testing frameworks
- Contribute to the upstream GNU Debugger (GDB) project using Python and/or C/C++
- Investigate and fix issues and work on new GDB features
- Use AI agents in workflows and contribute to the team’s AI efforts
- Work with experienced open source teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Czech Republic during the full duration of the internship
- Must be able to join part-time from February 2027 till January 2028
- Working knowledge of written and spoken English
- Experience developing in Python
- Basic experience programming in C/C++
- User experience with the Linux operating system
- User experience with git version control system
- Interest in learning new technologies
- Problem-solving skills
- Sense of accountability
- Basic knowledge of agentic AI is a plus
- Previous open source contributions, participation, or GitHub code samples are a plus
