About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement measurement and verification plans to assess energy consumption, demand reductions and GHG emission reductions
- Manage energy projects according to timelines, quality standards and budget constraints
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the Region's Energy and Environment Sustainability Strategy and corporate strategic goals
- Conduct energy audits, benchmark performance and evaluate feasibility studies
- Lead greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and develop emissions management strategies
- Drive participation in energy conservation programs and initiatives across the Region
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in Engineering or related field
- Specialized knowledge of energy and deregulated markets and the current Ontario energy industry
- Minimum four (4) years experience in the power/energy/electricity industry, including risk management, purchasing, supply management, sales and/or control, billing and reporting
- Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP)
- Hands-on experience with energy management, power generation or energy technologies
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
- Satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station
- Working knowledge of renewable energy systems, including wind, solar, hydro-electric, biogas, biomass and ground source heat pumps
- Strong knowledge of international measurement and verification protocols, ISO 14064, ISO 50001, ICLEI, WRI GHG Protocol, CaGBC ZCB standards and LEED standards
- Effective decision-making, negotiation, planning and project management skills
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports, develop creative solutions and present energy management and procurement recommendations
- Superior business analysis and consultation skills
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- P.Eng designation would be an asset
- PMP designation would be an asset
- Certified member of OACETT in good standing would be an asset
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) would be an asset
