About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as data guardian for population health and surveillance databases
- Ensure data are used and stored according to data sharing agreements and Regional health information privacy practices
- Obtain, clean and analyze data from population health and surveillance databases and other Peel Public Health programs
- Use STATA, R, Esri products, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Excel to organize, analyze, report and interpret health data
- Conduct technical analyses and prepare reports for surveillance, population health status monitoring, program planning, program evaluation, epidemiologic questions and information requests
- Develop and present dashboards, visualizations, maps, tables and customized reports using Power BI or Tableau
- Provide support on technical and analytical issues related to health status and surveillance data
- Provide technical input on database design and maintenance
- Collaborate with and provide analytical support to epidemiologists and other internal staff
- Update and maintain team procedural documents on health databases
- Provide expert and timely service for ad-hoc data requests
Requirements
What you’ll need- Honours BA or BSc in Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Studies, Life Sciences or another related discipline
- Minimum of three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of population health data sources, such as IntelliHealth and Canadian Community Health Survey
- Ability to describe health databases and related policies, methods and limitations
- Ability to synthesize, analyze, interpret and communicate health/epidemiological information from multiple sources
- Knowledge and understanding of public and community health issues
- Excellent analytical skills using statistical software such as R, STATA and Excel
- Experience with mapping software such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development, data modeling, DAX, data transformation and visualization of complex public health data
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within an interdisciplinary team setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Project management and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail

- Ability to work off-site only within the province of Ontario
