About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate and manage reports of Latent TB Infection (LTBI)
- Manage cases of new immigrants requiring TB medical assessments, including physician appointments and consultations
- Assess and interpret physician reporting forms, drug orders, radiology, and laboratory work to determine nursing interventions
- Deliver health promotion, education, advocacy, resource development, group facilitation, and TB presentations
- Conduct physician outreach activities
- Participate in program planning and evaluation
- Develop policies and procedures
- Perform TB clinic duties, including administering and reading Tuberculin Skin Tests
- Conduct TB skin test clinics at schools and workplaces as needed
- Dispense TB medications to physician offices, TB clinics, or clients
- Develop and maintain linkages with health professionals and community agencies
- Assist the supervisor with program development
- Apply population health, health equity, health determinants, and health protection/promotion principles
- Use research, evidence, and critical appraisal to inform policies, programs, and practice
- Provide client health information, teaching, and counselling in person and electronically
- Assess client health status and functional competence using a holistic approach
- Establish client goals, outcome indicators, and evaluation measures
- Facilitate community engagement and community assessment
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate public health strategies using Evidence Informed Decision Making
- Advocate for healthy public policy
- Collaborate with partners to address public health issues and service gaps
- Develop inter-sectoral partnerships and networks
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Promote Region of Peel and Public Health services
- Participate in research, quality assurance, and mentorship opportunities

Requirements
What you’ll need- One year of Tuberculosis case management preferred, or 2–3 years of non-COVID communicable disease case management
- Experience administering and reading TB skin tests is an asset
- Experience developing and delivering health promotion and physician outreach
- Clinical nursing experience in acute care or community settings
- Experience working with marginalized communities and knowledge of disproportionate health impacts
- Tuberculosis screening and N-95 mask fit testing may be required
- Regular travel in the community and to clinics across the Region of Peel
- G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or equivalent recognized by a Canadian University
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Previous nursing experience, public/community health nursing experience, or public health consolidation placement as part of a BScN degree
- Current CPR (BLS) certification
- Satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station
- Understanding of Peel’s diverse community and associated health impacts

- May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, standby/on-call, and evenings
- May be redeployed to nursing work across the Public Health Department
- May be required to work in and travel to multiple locations and use a personal vehicle for work-related purposes
