About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage, develop, and maintain the HSE Management System and DOT Programs for regional fixed locations
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal occupational health and safety, DOT, and EPA regulations
- Implement, maintain, and improve health and safety policies, procedures, training, processes, and risk/hazard assessments
- Support safety-program implementation and monitoring across the Rockies and Central regions
- Develop site-specific programs and plans
- Conduct scheduled site visits and safety meetings with branches
- Identify and control site-specific hazards and risks with local management
- Monitor and implement regional training programs
- Hold branches accountable for safety and DOT program compliance
- Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and DOT standards
- Develop emergency response plans, conduct drills, and support loss control and crisis management
- Report HSE/DOT non-compliance or negligence to management
- Manage incidents and investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective-action recommendations
- Support disability management, workers' compensation claims, fit-for-duty, return-to-work, and modified-work programs
- Conduct field and client audits, inspections, onboarding, orientations, observations, and site visits
- Chair safety meetings, document minutes, and contribute to agendas and topics
- Develop and maintain formal hazard assessments, SOPs, and physical-demands analyses
- Implement subcontractor and contractor management programs
- Develop equipment-, competency-, task-, and location-specific training programs
- Track and report regional metrics and progress
- Improve the company's safety and overall culture
- Travel up to 50–60%, including weekly overnight stays, customer work-site visits, company facilities, and business meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; industrial hygiene or occupational safety degree is a plus, or equivalent number of years of related experience and education
- Must be willing to travel 50–60% in the Rockies and Central regions (SLC, ID, CO, MT, WY, TX, OK)
- 5+ years of HSE experience
- OSHA 30 Certification
- 5+ years of experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- 5+ years of experience in injury management and return-to-work programs
- Knowledge and interpretation of DOT, OSHA, EPA, and workers' compensation legislation
- Working knowledge of safety management software
- Experience in program development, management, and implementation
- Proficiency in electronic management systems, dashboards, Microsoft Office, and Excel
- Documentation control and reporting experience
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and lead change-management initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking, logical and data analysis, problem-solving, independent judgment, and discretion
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Pre-employment drug screening, including THC and other drugs, and a full background check required
