About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and grow a senior team of data engineers
Develop and execute a plan to reduce Snowflake costs month over month
Define and drive Relay's approach to real-time data and platform enablement, including Kafka streaming and a Snowflake MCP server
Build observability so the team identifies problems before stakeholders do
Link technical investments such as upgrades, migrations, and refactors to business outcomes
Balance delivery speed against technical debt
Run standups, sprint and roadmap planning, architectural decisions, code review, and cross-company requests
Lead the Data Platform team responsible for infrastructure, cost, real-time data, observability, and AI capabilities
Support Relay, a digital banking platform for self-made business owners

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least two years of experience managing engineers, including senior team members
Deep, hands-on production experience with Snowflake and dbt, including building data models
Experience owning a production data platform
Highly fluent with AI tools
Experience with AWS or GCP is a bonus
Experience with Dagster or another data orchestrator is a bonus
Experience with Fivetran and Hightouch is a bonus
Experience with Terraform is a bonus
Experience with Kafka or other real-time data infrastructure is a bonus
Successful background check and employment verification through Certn required
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Able to join the office three days a week (Tues/Weds/Thurs)
