About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead architecture and the highest-risk work across interconnected systems
- Set practical standards for quality, reliability, security, and maintainability
- Own ambiguous, cross-team initiatives from problem definition through measurable outcomes
- Set priorities, resolve dependencies, and keep execution moving
- Identify important problems proactively and connect technical decisions to customer needs, business priorities, cost, and risk
- Align teams with different priorities using context, evidence, and sound judgment
- Create practices, tooling, documentation, and guardrails that improve Engineering delivery and operational effectiveness
- Coach engineers and delegate meaningful ownership to develop technical leaders
- Participate in a five-stage interview process including video calls, live coding, system design, and an in-person interview
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience leading architecture for complex, interconnected systems and owning high-risk technical decisions
- Experience driving cross-team initiatives from ambiguous problems to measurable results
- Ability to connect technical trade-offs to customer impact, business priorities, cost, and risk
- Ability to influence without formal authority and align teams through context and evidence
- Experience creating standards, tooling, or processes that improve delivery and operations beyond one's own team
- Experience coaching engineers and delegating meaningful ownership
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments and navigating ambiguity and change
- JavaScript experience is a bonus, with TypeScript, React, and Node.js used primarily
- AWS experience is a bonus, including ECS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and Lambda
- Experience with continuous deployment pipelines is a bonus
- Fintech, banking, or regulated-environment experience is a bonus
- Ability to work from the Toronto office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
