About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare full U.S. federal and multi-state individual income tax returns (Form 1040), including supporting schedules
- Prepare U.S. partnership returns (Form 1065), including Schedules K-1, K-2/K-3, and partner capital account reconciliations
- Prepare U.S. C-corporation and S-corporation returns (Form 1120/1120S), including Schedule M-1/M-3 reconciliations, book-to-tax adjustments, and multi-state apportionment
- Review client-provided source documents for completeness and accuracy
- Resolve routine IRS and state tax authority notices, including obtaining Power of Attorney and communicating with IRS agents
- Identify and research technical tax issues, escalating open items to the reviewing Manager
- Prepare supporting workpapers reconciling tax positions to source data
- Respond to review notes and complete revisions within agreed timelines
- Collaborate closely with the reviewing Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience working for a US public accounting firm
- Professional designation (CPA, EA) or equivalent accounting/tax qualification
- Experience with multi-state and local tax filings
- Proficiency in major US tax preparation software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProConnect Tax)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and IRS interactions
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines independently
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work Eastern Time shift
