About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review, negotiate, and draft commercial terms, contracts, and legal agreements for business projects, including framework agreements, procurement tenders, and variations
Manage an independent matter caseload
Support commercial negotiations involving customer and supplier contracts
Advise on issues, risks, and commercial queries, consulting insurance and finance functions where required
Deliver training programmes on legal and contractual risks and issues
Update commercial terms, precedents, and templates
Contribute to improved processes and ways of working
Act as the first point of contact for business legal queries
Work with the regional general counsel and/or external counsel on arising issues
Cover corporate commercial work within the UK and Irish business

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 5 years PQE as an experienced commercial lawyer
Technical legal knowledge and commercial understanding
Some knowledge of or familiarity with construction project insurance, collateral warranties, performance bonds, guarantees, and claims management
Good understanding of general corporate/commercial contracts and legal principles
Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume organisation with a high appetite for risk
Exposure to public procurement
Qualified lawyer in England & Wales, or another relevant jurisdiction, with at least five years PQE
Excellent experience and knowledge of general corporate/commercial contracting principles
Legal knowledge and commercial understanding of relevant industries and public procurement, with good commercial legal skills
