About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as a core leader on the Group Enterprise Architecture Board and align North American architecture capabilities with global strategies
Mandate and steer technical strategies across network, cloud, MuleSoft, Apigee, and application domains
Lead the North American Technical Design Authority and Design Review Board
Evaluate, approve, and validate enterprise designs, risk trade-offs, and Architecture Decision Records
Champion Build vs. Buy analyses, vendor RFPs, and emerging technology roadmaps for Gen AI and Agentic AI
Rationalize the broader application ecosystem and reduce technical debt
Act as strategic proxy for the VP of Digital Products in executive forums
Drive alignment among business leaders, technology groups, and external vendors
Mobilize and scale the Solution Architecture organization
Establish career pathways and cross-domain capabilities while eliminating single points of failure
Maintain accountability for security, non-functional compliance, and strategic alignment of high-level designs, API specifications, and data models
Initiate and lead cross-functional discussions aligning business priorities, technical architecture, and execution plans
Guide and mentor Solution Architects to drive technical excellence and capability-driven delivery

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical discipline
Direct, relevant enterprise-scale experience may be substituted on a 1:1 year basis; 12+ years of progressive technical leadership may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree
12+ years of progressive technology leadership in large-scale enterprise environments
5+ years directly leading, scaling, and managing solution or enterprise architecture teams, including budget ownership and resource allocation
Proven experience leading or presiding over Technical Design Authorities (TDA) or Design Review Boards (DRB) across complex enterprise ecosystems
Experience driving Build vs. Buy evaluations, managing vendor RFPs, and rationalizing legacy IT platforms
Deep technical knowledge of MuleSoft, Apigee, cloud-native environments such as GCP CloudRun, and emerging AI architectures including Gen AI and Agentic AI
Experience acting as a trusted proxy for VP/C-level executives and translating business goals into multi-year technology roadmaps
Ability to align matrixed organizations around complex architectural strategies
Exceptional executive-level written, verbal, and visual presentation skills
Mastery of technical roadmaps, investment strategies, and Build vs. Buy recommendations
Commercial acumen for evaluating third-party platforms, vendor negotiations, and RFPs
Capability to establish, mature, and enforce enterprise architecture frameworks, ADRs, and DRB SLAs
Ability to balance operational speed with risk mitigation, technical debt reduction, security, and non-functional compliance
Proven talent development and cross-domain capability-building skills
Understanding of distributed platforms, integration patterns, cloud infrastructure, and governance models for emerging technology
Knowledge of service, incident, release, and IT change management frameworks
Ability to meet stated physical demands, including lifting up to 10 pounds, prolonged sitting, repetitive hand motions, oral communication, and near-range visual acuity
