About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own strategic opportunity development in the assigned territory
  • Build multi-level relationships with technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Collaborate with BAM/Inside Sales, Field Applications, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, and Quality
  • Promote and sell downstream, upstream, and single-use engineered systems and software solutions
  • Develop and execute a regional management plan
  • Develop customized and modular engineered solutions for upstream and downstream bioprocessing
  • Review and support customer URS preparation and prepare proposals based on customer requirements
  • Conduct sales negotiations with technical and procurement departments
  • Drive the sales process through territory account managers to meet or exceed sales and profitability targets
  • Establish and maintain strategic key account relationships
  • Develop new target accounts across the territory
  • Support customers from lab-scale through full process-scale solutions
  • Provide timely sales reporting and forecasting using a CRM tool
  • Maintain contact with bioprocessing infrastructure partners and identify new opportunities
  • Share product, market, and competitive information with Business and Market Development
  • Support development of sales collateral
  • Provide Manufacturing and QA/QC operations with information for forecasting, complaint handling, and facility audits
  • Execute field sales activities, including customer visits, technical presentations, quote preparation, and negotiation
  • Attend, manage, and follow up on trade show activities
  • Report to the Director, Integrated Systems
  • Work from a home office and travel 50% of the time in the region

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of a BEng or a BSc degree in Biochemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Deep knowledge of engineered systems for different unit operations, including chromatography and filtration
  • Strong understanding of chromatography and/or filtration highly beneficial
  • Understanding of engineering control platforms such as Alan Bradley, Delta V, or Siemens beneficial
  • Proven successful sales track record and key account management experience
  • Proficiency in understanding engineering documentation and drawings
  • Ability to build mutually beneficial, personable, trusting relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the territory
