About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide exceptional customer service and waste support to clients
  • Respond to inquiries, process orders, prepare correspondence, troubleshoot issues, and fulfill customer needs
  • Deliver service to internal and external clients via phone, email, or in person
  • Mentor junior staff and provide escalated support for complex issues
  • Establish communication pathways for customer inquiries
  • Collaborate with teams to resolve customer concerns
  • Coordinate office services, including data entry, clerical work, records control, form creation, and report preparation
  • Assess new waste profiles, enter data into company systems, and manage supporting documentation
  • Prepare shipping documents and manifests using correct DOT hazardous-material descriptions
  • Serve as point of contact for Sales, Operations, Customer Support Management, Billing, Transportation, and Approvals
  • Investigate billing discrepancies, process adjustments, and manage invoicing and collections
  • Provide quotes and schedule and organize trucking for waste transportation
  • Evaluate approved waste profiles and select pricing sheets based on location, customer type, and regional market
  • Partner with sales representatives to identify appropriate waste disposal solutions
  • Review hazardous waste manifests and non-hazardous Bills of Lading (BOLs)
  • Create and maintain waste disposal profiles
  • Coordinate waste pickups with transportation teams
  • Resolve customer questions, service needs, and operational issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-7 years of progressively responsible experience in a customer-facing role addressing customer needs, preferably in waste disposal, chemistry, or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) laws and regulations related to waste characterization principles and practices
  • Knowledge of waste processing protocols and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Knowledge of accounting processes
  • Ability to identify trends and data patterns
  • Ability to work within a team environment and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, DocuSign, and PDF writer
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documentation, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Commitment to customer service and ability to actively listen to customers
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Hazardous waste or environmental services experience is a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and manage competing priorities
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on providing a positive customer experience
