About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and high-quality service to all involved parties by initiating investigations, responding to inquiries, and resolving claims
  • Gather necessary information from all parties to initiate claims and explain policy, coverage, and the appropriate course of action
  • Manage an inventory of bodily injury claims
  • Establish initial reserves for all potential exposures and adjust reserves throughout the life of the claim
  • Investigate liability and evaluate injuries and damages
  • Obtain and review medical records, bills, and other supporting documentation
  • Manage multi-claimant passenger losses
  • Communicate with involved parties and negotiate settlements with claimants, insureds, and attorneys within approved payment authority
  • Oversee and direct outside investigative service providers
  • Work with the client, client counsel, and defense counsel to resolve claims, including litigated files
  • Recognize recovery opportunities, including contribution and subrogation
  • Identify claims requiring escalation
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures
  • Engage in learning opportunities related to commercial passenger carrier claims, court decisions, claim guidelines, and policy changes
  • Provide input for continuous improvement of claim guidelines and processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment
  • Unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience on commercial transportation bodily injury claims, ideally limousine, livery, motorcoach, charter, or other passenger carrier operations
  • 7 years of overall claims handling from different lines of business
  • Bachelor's degree; lack of one should not stop you from applying if you possess all the other qualifications
  • Active adjuster license: resident-state license where available, otherwise a Designated Home State (DHS) license
  • Obtain any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state testing
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures
  • Familiarity with passenger carrier operations and coverage considerations
  • Experience managing litigated files and working with defense counsel
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate claims data and make sound decisions based on established guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to complete accurate and timely coverage analysis
