About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide prompt, courteous, and high-quality customer service to policyholders and claimants
- Answer customer calls, file claims, and resolve customer requests
- Gather information to initiate claims and explain policy, coverage, and appropriate courses of action
- Manage an inventory of commercial property claims from first notice of loss through resolution
- Establish initial reserves for potential exposures and adjust them throughout the claim
- Investigate, determine coverage, and adjust all elements of commercial property loss claims
- Write appraisals for dwelling repairs or coordinate with field appraisers to review appraisal accuracy
- Explain coverage of loss, including coinsurance; assist policyholders with damage itemization and mitigation steps
- Handle business interruption claims
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures
- Communicate with involved parties and negotiate settlements with claimants, insureds, and attorneys within approved payment authority
- Provide input for claims guidelines, best practices, and process improvements
- Oversee and direct outside investigative service providers
- Work with clients, client counsel, and investigative services to resolve claims
Requirements
What you’ll need- Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment
- Cannot reside in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States
- Bachelor's degree (lack of one should not stop you from applying if you possess all the other qualifications)
- Active adjuster license: resident-state license where available, otherwise a Designated Home State (DHS) license
- Willing to obtain any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state testing
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with property claims
- Commercial property claims experience
- Desk and/or field appraisal experience
- Knowledge of state regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures
- Ability to analyze and evaluate complex data and make sound decisions based on established guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Curious and motivated by problem solving and questioning the status quo
- Desire to engage in learning opportunities and continuous professional development
- Willingness to travel for client and claims needs
