About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess and pressure test creative ideas and opportunities for earned media and influencer potential
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, media, influencers and the agency
- Manage projects from planning through execution
- Direct written materials including messaging, press releases, pitch notes and briefing materials
- Provide strategic input on thought leadership opportunities
- Develop communications materials that elevate client brands and leaders
- Build amplification plans across paid, earned, owned and shared channels
- Manage campaign hard-cost budgets across multiple accounts
- Set appropriate KPIs and secure relevant earned media coverage
- Provide educated risk assessments
- Maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor and motivate a high-performing team in a psychologically safe environment
- Build and optimize ideas to make them bigger, more newsworthy and more famous
- Collaborate with all departments and model communications best practices
- Stay informed about culture, industry, PR, social/digital and influencer programming
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience working in public relations
- Previous agency experience is preferred
- Experience in both consumer PR and corporate communications
- Proven success in media relations, with a track record for building relationships with key reporters
- Experience and/or interest in the sports industry is a bonus
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Solid creative instinct
- Solid media relationships and ability to build new ones
- Confidently developing PR programs for national consumer brands from briefing to reporting
- Effective and confident client relations skills
- Strong understanding of media relations and the current Canadian media landscape
- Rock-solid project and time management skills
